About The Position

The New York County District Attorney's Office (DANY) has openings for the 2026 Summer High School Internship Program. This rigorous five-week, paid internship provides students with an insider’s view of the criminal justice system. Participants will engage in workshops and discussions, participate in a mock trial program, develop professionalism in an office setting, and more. Interns will be paid minimum wage.

Requirements

  • Applicants must reside in Manhattan
  • Applicants must be current juniors, or seniors in high school.
  • Employment in this title is restricted to students enrolled in and attending high school. Employment is conditioned upon continuance as a high school student. No student shall be employed for more than 20 hours in any week that school is in session. Students may be employed full‐time during their vacation periods.
  • Interns must attend the full five-week session from June 29, 2026 – July 31, 2026.
  • In-person Monday through Friday from 9:30 am – 4:30 pm.

Responsibilities

  • Engage in workshops and hands-on experiences to get an inside look into the criminal justice system.
  • Complete assigned reading to participate in group discussions.
  • Participate in a mock trial and policy proposal project.
  • Work in a unit and perform related tasks as assigned.
