About The Position

Assists students and teachers in the general education classroom by providing general education or inclusion services Supervises and delivers lessons for related arts/special areas classes as assigned by the building principal or the building principal's designee Works with small groups of students and/or with individual students Supervises students during periods such as arrival, dismissal, breakfast, lunch, and recess Helps maintain cleanliness and order in the classroom and school areas Assists classroom teachers with the implementation of the instructional plan Helps create and maintain an appropriate and positive learning environment Assists in the collection and compilation of student, parent, teacher, and community data Follows a schedule Be trustworthy with confidential information All other duties as assigned by the building principal or the building principal's designee

Requirements

  • Must be able to meet the criteria for Highly Qualified as an instructional assistant, which is: To have completed at least two years of study at an institution of higher education defined as completion or 48 semester hours (or equivalent trimester hours) of college coursework or an applicable number of semester hours as defined by the institution of higher education attended, whichever is less; or To have obtained an associate's (or higher) degree; or To have met a rigorous standard of quality and can demonstrate, through a formal state or local academic assessment (the ParaPro Assessment) knowledge of, and the ability to assist in instructing reading, writing, and mathematics; or knowledge of, and the ability to assist in instructing, reading readiness, writing readiness, and mathematics.
