About The Position

The High School Head Volleyball Coach is responsible for providing instruction and coaching to students as a means of developing volleyball skills and contributing to all student athlete success in the classroom and on the field. The Head Volleyball Coach is further responsible for directly supervising all assigned personnel along with ensuring and encouraging sportsmanlike conduct amongst all students and staff.

Requirements

  • Candidate must hold, or be eligible to hold, a Wyoming Professional Teaching Standards Board (PTSB) endorsement as a Volleyball Coach.
  • Ability to use effective communication skills
  • Robust knowledge of the sport of volleyball including strategy, rules, and coaching
  • Ability to use time effectively
  • Good organizational skills
  • Ability to maintain a positive relationship with other staff by collaborating and working cooperatively with them (including supervisors)
  • Knowledge of physiological, psychological, emotional and educational behavioral development of children and/or adolescents
  • Ability to lead meetings
  • Ability to help coaches achieve consensus

Nice To Haves

  • 3+ years of experience as a high school head volleyball coach.
  • Valid Wyoming teaching certification
  • Bachelor’s degree in a related field

Responsibilities

  • Uses a variety of instructional techniques and methods along with media to meet the needs of student athletes and the volleyball program as a means of improving the abilities of student athletes in the assigned sport.
  • Manages and supervises all high school volleyball activities, contests, and practice sessions to promote individual growth in athletic skills, teamwork, discipline, respect, and good sportsmanship.
  • Works with other members of school staff to plan and put in place instructional goals and objectives to ensure overall educational development of student athletes.
  • Ensures that all volleyball coaches work together toward a common goal of success within the volleyball program and provide system unity with all lower-level volleyball programs within the District.
  • Establishes performance criteria for competition and evaluates student athletic abilities on an initial and regular basis.
  • Ensures all necessary precautions and safeguards are in place to protect student athletes, equipment, materials, and facilities.
  • Monitors and enforces student eligibility criteria for extracurricular participation.
  • Works with the High School Athletic Director and other coaches to schedule competitions and coordinate appropriate arrangements.
  • Assists in the development and coordination of a continuing system of evaluations of all coaches within the volleyball program and makes changes based on findings and the ongoing needs of the volleyball program.
  • Accompanies and supervises student athletes during athletic competitions in assigned sports when traveling to compete.
  • Instructs and advises student athletes on NCAA regulations specific to academic requirements for scholarships and recruiting purposes.
  • Maintains a regular system of files containing all material relevant to the volleyball program including eligibility forms, transfer forms, grade reports, and ensures that all ACSD#1 District policies are followed.
  • Applies and enforces student discipline during athletic contests, practice sessions, and while on trips of school property in accordance with ACSD#1 policies and the student handbook.
  • Encourages sportsmanlike conduct in all phases of athletic participation.
  • Establishes and maintains open communication by conducting conferences with parents, students, principals, teachers, and Athletic Director.
  • Maintains inventory of all fixed assets of the volleyball program.
  • Oversees process of cleaning, repairing, and storing all program athletic equipment.
  • Annually establishes and meets performance goals.
  • Other duties as assigned.
