About The Position

The position requires a licensed school counselor in Indiana to provide educational career guidance for all students. The contract is for 195 days. The counselor will assist students experiencing personal or social concerns that interfere with learning, advocate for individual students and systemic change, and manage the school counseling program efficiently and effectively.

Requirements

  • Must be licensed in Indiana as a School Counselor.
  • Demonstrate knowledge of local, state, and federal policies, regulations, and laws pertaining to school counseling.
  • Adhere to ethical standards of the state and national school counselor associations.

Responsibilities

  • Provide educational career guidance for all students.
  • Assist students experiencing personal or social concerns that interfere with learning.
  • Advocate for individual students and systemic change when learning environments are not supportive.
  • Manage the school counseling program efficiently and effectively.
  • Identify local guidance standards and indicators in academic, career, and citizenship development.
  • Develop and present guidance lessons in various settings.
  • Coordinate guidance activities with school counselors and community service groups.
  • Identify local counseling needs related to personal and social development.
  • Provide individual, group, and crisis counseling for students.
  • Consult with administrators, teachers, and parents regarding student needs.
  • Coordinate student assistance activities with other school and community services.
  • Identify situations where students are not achieving their potential due to unsupportive learning environments.
  • Participate in school improvement initiatives and advocate for high achievement for all students.
  • Communicate about the school counseling program to stakeholders.
  • Implement required state tests and assist in analyzing test data.
  • Work with students and parents to ensure graduation/diploma guidelines are met.
  • Assist students with the waiver process and registration for placement tests.
  • Adhere to ethical standards and preferred practices of school counselor associations.
  • Demonstrate knowledge of relevant policies, regulations, and laws.
  • Engage in continuous personal growth and professional development.
