About The Position

The General Education Teacher is responsible for planning, delivering, and assessing high-quality instruction that promotes student learning, growth, and achievement. The teacher creates a positive classroom environment, establishes effective relationships with students and families, and collaborates with colleagues to support the educational goals of the district. Instruction is aligned with the Missouri Learning Standards and the Scott County R-IV Comprehensive School Improvement Plan (CSIP). To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. Requirements

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Education required.
  • Valid Missouri Teaching Certificate in the appropriate subject/grade level preferred.
  • Strong knowledge of content and pedagogy.
  • Effective written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to plan, organize, and deliver engaging instruction.
  • Classroom management and student motivation skills.
  • Ability to integrate technology effectively into instruction.
  • Strong interpersonal and collaboration skills.
  • Commitment to continuous improvement and the district’s CSIP.
  • Is regularly required to stand, walk, sit, hear, speak, and see at close, moderate, and distance ranges.
  • Must be able to lift and/or move instructional materials up to 25 pounds.
  • Must meet deadlines with time constraints and manage multiple tasks.
  • Regular and consistent attendance is an essential function of this position.

Nice To Haves

  • Master’s Degree in Education or related field preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Provide instruction that supports student mastery of the Missouri Learning Standards.
  • Plan and prepare engaging lesson plans and instructional materials that address diverse learner needs.
  • Use effective instructional strategies, technology, and resources to enhance learning.
  • Assess student progress using formative and summative assessments; maintain accurate records and provide feedback.
  • Differentiate instruction to support students with varied abilities, backgrounds, and learning styles.
  • Establish and maintain standards of classroom behavior that create a safe, respectful, and productive learning environment.
  • Communicate regularly with parents and guardians regarding student progress, concerns, and successes.
  • Collaborate with colleagues in grade-level or content-area teams and participate in professional learning communities.
  • Participate in curriculum development, professional development, and staff meetings.
  • Supervise students in the classroom, hallways, cafeterias, playgrounds, assemblies, and during other assigned duties.
  • Maintain professional competence through ongoing professional development and reflection.
  • Uphold district policies, procedures, and staff handbooks.
  • Support CSIP goals by focusing on student achievement, continuous improvement, and positive school culture.
  • Perform other duties as assigned by the Principal or Superintendent.
