About The Position

Assistant High School Football Coach The High School Assistant Football Coach is responsible for instructing student athletes in the fundamental physical training, skills, and strategy necessary for them to realize a degree of individual and team success. At the same time, the student athlete shall receive instruction that will lead to the formulation of acceptable moral values and social behavior, pride of accomplishment, self-confidence, and self-discipline. This position maintains positive interpersonal relationships with students, parents, peers, and community members and provides the best possible opportunities for student development and growth, both educationally and personally. Supervises: This is a non-supervisory role. Compensation: This is a seasonal, part-time, stipend-paid position $3,100-$3,900 per season. Stipend is dependent upon experience and qualifications. The school participates in the Colorado Public Schools Retirement System PERA.

Requirements

  • Knowledge in sport-specific coaching and training techniques.
  • Ability to work as an integral part of the coaching staff.
  • High School coaches must be CHSAA certified.
  • Commitment to mission and vision of the school.
  • Effective oral communication.
  • Professional attitude, appearance, and demeanor.
  • Ability to remain calm and de-escalate tense situations.
  • Flexibility and creativity.
  • Growth-oriented approach; always looking for ways to improve professionally.

Nice To Haves

  • Prior experience coaching in football preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Attend all Athletic Director meetings and league meetings (when needed).
  • Increase the number of participants through effective recruiting of currently enrolled students.
  • Develop life skills in student athletes.
  • Assist in creating practice plans specifically designed for incremental skill development.
  • Monitor academic progress and student eligibility.
  • Support student-teacher relationships and provide academic support opportunities for student-athletes.
  • Teach and encourage sportsmanship and integrity.
  • Maintain professional behavior during practices and games.
  • Conduct effective practices to develop strength, endurance, and athletic skills.
  • Conduct activities to build individual participants into a cohesive team.
  • Provide appropriate, systematic feedback to all student-athletes.
  • Build and improve relationships among peer coaches and teachers.
  • Build and improve relationships with other sports teams in the school district at the same or different levels.
  • Attend and participate in ongoing professional development as a coach to improve overall student/athlete skill.
  • Assist the head coach with acquisition, distribution, maintenance and repair of all equipment and uniforms.
  • Assist the head coach with raising and/or acquiring the necessary funds for program success.
  • Demonstrate appropriate concern for visiting teams and officials.
  • Skillfully use First Aid and CPR training to prevent, minimize and treat predictable injuries.
