About The Position

The High School Flag Football Head Coach at Codman Academy is responsible for leading the high school flag football program, providing expert instruction, strategy, and development to student-athletes. The Head Coach will help athletes grow both on and off the field by promoting teamwork, discipline, and sportsmanship while focusing on their physical, mental, and academic development. The coach will also ensure the safety and well-being of all athletes and collaborate with the Athletic Director to guide the direction and success of the program. Public visibility and expectations for success are high, but the coach must balance competitive goals with the broader educational and character-building objectives of Codman Academy.

Requirements

  • Previous experience coaching football at the high school level, or comparable competitive experience.
  • Demonstrated ability to lead and manage a successful athletic program, with a track record of both academic and athletic success.
  • Strong understanding of flag football rules, strategies, and player safety protocols.
  • Ability to work collaboratively with the school administration, athletic department staff, parents, and community members.
  • Excellent communication skills, with the ability to effectively engage with student-athletes, parents, and school staff.
  • Proven experience in promoting teamwork, discipline, sportsmanship, and player development.

Responsibilities

  • Program Leadership: Lead the high school flag football program by developing and implementing practice plans, game strategies, and player development initiatives.
  • Player Development: Instruct student-athletes in the fundamental skills, strategies, and physical training necessary for team and individual success.
  • Values-based Coaching: Foster the development of moral values, teamwork, pride in accomplishment, self-discipline, and self-confidence in student-athletes.
  • Safety and Supervision: Ensure the health, safety, and welfare of all student-athletes by adhering to Codman Academy’s safety procedures and best practices.
  • Game Preparation: Develop game strategies, conduct game film analysis, and prepare athletes for competition, ensuring readiness for both physical and mental challenges.
  • Community Engagement: Build strong relationships between the program and the community, including parents, staff, and stakeholders, to support the growth and success of the program.
  • Program Development: Collaborate with the Athletic Director to set goals for the program, establish a yearly schedule, and ensure alignment with the school’s broader educational and athletic mission.
  • Mentorship: Act as a positive role model and mentor, promoting a culture of respect, integrity, and personal growth in line with Codman Academy’s Hallmarks.
  • Program Representation: Represent the school and its values at all practices, games, and public events, demonstrating professionalism and dedication to educational-based athletics.
  • Manage and maintain team equipment and inventory.
  • Ensure compliance with all school, district, and league rules and regulations.
  • Perform other duties as assigned by the Athletic Director or Principal.
