About The Position

The High School Enrollment Counselor is a position that is very rewarding in training and mentoring at-risk youth. This role involves conducting outreach and direct recruitment activities, interfacing with other outreach contractors, and determining student qualifications for enrollment in support of the center's residential, non-residential, and Other Training Provider (OTP) programs in compliance with government and management directives. The counselor will attend, exhibit, and present at designated events including neighborhood and county activities/fairs, job fairs, resource fairs, and other events as directed by management. Additionally, the counselor develops and maintains linkages with referral sources such as colleges, school districts, human services agencies, youth organizations, and recreational centers to identify potential students and conduct outreach activities.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in human services, psychology, counseling, education, social science, communications, or closely related field; or
  • Associate's degree in human services, psychology, counseling, education, social science, communications, or closely related field, and 3 years related experience.
  • Valid State driver's license with acceptable driving record preferred.
  • Ability to pass a drug screen in compliance with Substance Abuse and Drug-Free Workplace policy.
  • Good organizational skills.
  • Excellent communication skills, both oral and written.
  • Ability to obtain and maintain a valid CPR/First Aid certificate.
  • Ability to communicate effectively and relate to trainee population.
  • Ability to inspire and motivate students.

Responsibilities

  • Conduct outreach and direct recruitment activities.

  • Interview potential candidates to obtain information for eligibility.
