About The Position

The High School Enrollment Counselor position is a rewarding role focused on training and mentoring at-risk youth. This position is located in a satellite office in Richmond, VA for the Old Dominion Job Corps Center. The counselor will conduct outreach and recruitment activities, interface with other outreach contractors, and determine student qualifications for enrollment in various programs. The role involves attending events, developing linkages with referral sources, interviewing candidates, and completing required documentation for enrollment.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in human services, psychology, counseling, education, social science, communications, or closely related field; or
  • Associate’s degree in a related field with years of related experience.
  • Valid State driver’s license with acceptable driving record preferred.
  • Ability to pass a drug screen in compliance with Substance Abuse and Drug-Free Workplace policy.
  • Successful completion of a nationwide criminal background check.

  • Experience with Job Corps outreach and admissions or other youth development programs.
  • Good organizational skills.
  • Excellent communication skills, both oral and written.
  • Ability to obtain and maintain a valid CPR/First Aid certificate.
  • Ability to inspire and motivate students.

Responsibilities

  • Conduct outreach and direct recruitment activities for the Job Corps program.
  • Interface with other outreach contractors to determine student qualifications for enrollment.
  • Attend, exhibit, and present at designated events such as job fairs and resource fairs.
  • Develop and maintain linkages with referral sources to identify potential students.
  • Interview potential candidates to obtain information for eligibility and complete applicant folders.
  • Complete all required documentation in individual folders for enrollment per PRH and company requirements.
