About The Position

The High School English Teacher is responsible for delivering rigorous, standards-aligned instruction in English Language Arts, including Advanced Placement (AP) English courses as assigned. This position supports the academic mission of the school by fostering students’ reading, writing, speaking, and critical thinking skills while integrating a biblical worldview. The Teacher will design and implement curriculum aligned with state academic standards, AP College Board expectations, and school-wide learning outcomes, creating a classroom environment that promotes excellence, integrity, and respect.

  • Bachelor’s degree in English or a related field required
  • Valid state teaching certification in English required.
  • Demonstrated ability to teach secondary English content effectively.
  • Strong classroom management, communication, and organizational skills.
  • Commitment to continuous professional growth and instructional improvement.
  • Ability to collaborate effectively within a professional learning community.

Nice To Haves

  • Master’s degree preferred.
  • ACSI teacher certification preferred.
  • AP English training and/or experience preferred; willingness to complete College Board AP training required if assigned AP courses.

Responsibilities

  • Teach high school English courses, including AP English Language and/or AP English Literature, in alignment with state English Language Arts standards.
  • Develop and deliver lesson plans that reflect approved curriculum guides and pacing expectations.
  • Prepare students for AP examinations through intentional instruction, assessment, and skill development.
  • Employ varied instructional strategies to support diverse learning needs and learning styles.
  • Integrate biblical principles and a Christian worldview appropriately within instruction.
  • Use formative and summative assessments to evaluate student progress and mastery of standards.
  • Provide timely, constructive feedback to support academic growth.
  • Maintain accurate records of grades, attendance, and academic performance.
  • Use assessment data to inform instructional decisions and improve student outcomes.
  • Establish and maintain a respectful, well-managed, and Christ-honoring classroom environment.
  • Support students’ academic, social, and spiritual development through mentorship and guidance.
  • Uphold school-wide behavioral expectations and student conduct policies.
  • Collaborate with faculty and administration to support instructional goals and continuous improvement.
  • Participate in faculty meetings, professional development, and accreditation-related activities.
  • Communicate effectively with parents, colleagues, and administrators regarding student progress.
  • Contribute to the broader school community through involvement in co-curricular or extracurricular activities as assigned.
