Requirements

  • Committed Christian who is a faithful member of a local Christian church.
  • Successful applicants must affirm the Statement of Faith and Biblical Principles, which can be found https://www.westburychristian.org/employment
  • Bachelor’s degree in English, Education, or a related field.
  • Valid teaching certificate.
  • High school English teaching experience preferred; new graduates with strong enthusiasm for literature and language are encouraged to apply.
  • Strong communication, organization, and classroom management skills.
  • Creative, motivated, and dedicated to helping students reach their full potential.
  • Alignment with the school's core values: relational, growth mindset, teamwork, commitment, and creativity.

Responsibilities

  • Plan and deliver dynamic lessons aligned with the school’s curriculum, Christian values, and state standards.
  • Integrate faith and learning in meaningful and relevant ways.
  • Create a supportive classroom environment where students feel confident expressing ideas.
  • Assess student progress and provide feedback to improve reading, writing, and critical thinking skills.
  • Collaborate with colleagues to develop a comprehensive English program that meets diverse student needs.
  • Utilize a variety of teaching methods to accommodate different learning styles.
  • Participate in extracurricular activities, school events, and other community initiatives.
  • Communicate regularly with parents and guardians regarding student progress and support.
  • Participate in professional development opportunities and contribute to the school's continuous improvement.
  • Uphold the school's mission, values, and policies.
  • Collaborate with other teachers and staff to support student success and the overall school community.
  • Attend faculty meetings, professional development days, and school events as required.
  • Support and participate in the school’s faith development programs.
