About The Position

Located in the shadow of Washington, D.C., Immanuel Christian School prepares students to serve Christ in this competitive, global world of the 21st century. Our academic program is comprehensive, college preparatory, and taught within a Christian framework. Our academic program is designed to lay a solid academic, intellectual, and spiritual foundation and challenge students to excel as they are being prepared for our nation’s best colleges and universities. This mission guides our curriculum as we seek to help students develop a biblical worldview and integrate their faith into the various disciplines of study. AP teaching experience is a plus.

Requirements

  • Baccalaureate degree, preferably in education.
  • Work toward an Association of Christian Schools International teaching license.
  • Complete that which is required by A.C.S.I. to obtain a professional A.C.S.I. teaching license.
  • Be regenerated by the Holy Spirit through personal faith in Jesus Christ by the acceptance of Jesus Christ as Savior.
  • Have a working knowledge of the Bible
  • Complete studies in the Christian Philosophy of Education.

Responsibilities

  • Maintain a daily personal devotional life.
  • Demonstrate love and obedience to Christ.
  • Attend an evangelical church and serve in a church ministry.
  • Share in leading faculty devotions.
  • Provide written teaching plans.
  • Develop a plan for evaluating student work.
  • Request instructional equipment and supplies.
  • Prepare materials and use resources to support instruction.
  • Communicate the objectives and relevance of the material being taught.
  • Integrate biblical principles as appropriate.
  • Evaluate student understanding and mastery of content.
  • Demonstrate command of and enthusiasm for the subject matter.
  • Utilize a variety of teaching methods, materials, media, and evaluation tools.
  • Provide reference to other disciplines and life examples.
  • Utilize effective classroom and instructional management techniques.
  • Reflect a Christ-like spirit in dealing with student-teacher and student-student relationships.
  • Recognize the value of time-on-task.
  • Arrange the physical environment to complement the learning atmosphere.
  • Maintain accurate and complete school records.
  • Maintain effective communication with the students, parents, team members, faculty, office staff, and administration.
  • Clearly communicate compassion and empathy to all students.
  • Reflect a Christ-like spirit in dealing with conflicts and personal issues that arise.
  • Arrive punctually and attend all duties, programs, and meetings.
  • Serve on committees for evaluating curriculum, textbooks, operational procedures, special events, services, etc.
  • Uphold and enforce school rules, administrative regulations, school board policies, and support the goals and objectives of the school.
  • Maintain a professional attitude in relationship with others and collaborate with colleagues and administration.
  • Maintain personal appearance in a professionally appropriate manner.
  • Model the spiritual expectations of the school.
