High School ELL Educator: Architect of Global Success Location: McCluer High School (Grades 9-12) Year: 2026-2027 School Year The Opportunity: Empowering Global Citizens As an ELL Educator, you are the bridge between a student’s heritage and their future. Role Summary As a High School ELL Teacher, you will lead the language development program for our 9th-12th grade multilingual scholars. You will facilitate a sophisticated, student-centered environment that balances intensive English acquisition with the academic demands of high school graduation requirements. Working as a vital advocate within the building, you will collaborate with content-area teachers to scaffold complex subjects, ensuring that language is never a barrier to a student’s brilliance.

Requirements

  • Valid Missouri Teaching Certification in English for Speakers of Other Languages (ESOL) (K-12).
  • Bachelor of Arts or Science Degree, required
  • You understand the unique academic and social-emotional needs of immigrant and refugee teenagers.
  • You are a fierce advocate for your students, ensuring they have full access to STEAM pathways, AP courses, and career-technical education.
  • You thrive on partnering with Science, Math, and Social Studies departments to co-plan and modify instruction for diverse learners.

  • Master’s degree, preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Lead targeted instruction that develops high-level academic English in reading, writing, and professional communication.
  • Monitor graduation credits and pathway progress, ensuring ELL students are meeting the milestones for post-secondary success.
  • Provide "push-in" or collaborative support in core content classrooms to make high-level academic concepts accessible.
  • Build strong, trusting relationships with our international families, helping them navigate the complexities of the American high school system.
  • Lead building-wide initiatives that honor the linguistic and cultural wealth our students bring to the FFSD community.
