About The Position

Alpha Public Schools is a network of four public charter schools founded by families in East San José, with a mission to prepare the next generation of leaders. The system provides free TK-12 education, serving approximately 1,900 scholars in safe, inclusive, and student-centered learning environments. Alpha maintains a strong connection to its community, engaging families in a collaborative approach to offer a holistic education. A successful Alpha teacher believes in the capability of all students, upholds high expectations, and utilizes student data to drive instruction for scholar growth. Requirements

• A Bachelor’s degree
• A valid (or eligible for) California Education Specialist Instruction Credential
• Subject matter knowledge
• A commitment to working with students in traditionally underserved communities.

Nice To Haves

• California Education Specialist Instruction Credential in the Specialty Area of Extensive Needs or Mild to Moderate Support Needs
• Strong classroom management skills

Responsibilities

• Develop lesson plans and supplementary materials to teach standards based curriculum
• Operate a classroom that includes sound classroom management practices and engaging lessons and that produces strong academic results.
• Maintain open lines of communication with staff, families, and the greater Alpha community
• Participate in regular and on-going professional development, observations, and feedback sessions
