About The Position

The High School Chorus Teacher is responsible for developing and leading a comprehensive choral music program that fosters students’ vocal technique, musical literacy, performance skills, and appreciation for music. This role includes directing choral ensembles, organizing performances, and creating an inclusive, engaging classroom environment that supports student growth both artistically and academically.

Responsibilities

  • Lead daily rehearsals for multiple choral groups (Beginning, Intermediate, Proficient, and Advanced) across grades 9–12.
  • Teach vocal techniques, music theory, sight-reading, and performance practices
  • Direct and rehearse choral ensembles for concerts, competitions, and school events
  • Select appropriate and diverse choral repertoire
  • Assess student progress and provide timely feedback
  • Maintain a positive, inclusive, and disciplined classroom environment
  • Organize and coordinate performances, including concerts, assemblies, and collaborative performances with other fine arts classes (theater, art, dance etc.)
  • Collaborate with other fine arts staff and school faculty
  • Manage classroom materials, music library, and equipment
  • Support extracurricular activities such as honor choir, musical theater, or clubs (if applicable)
  • Communicate effectively with students, parents, and administration
  • Performs other duties and responsibilities as assigned by the Principal.
