About The Position

The High School Behavior Modification Technician supports the academic, behavioral, and social-emotional success of students by implementing behavior intervention strategies, monitoring student conduct, and collaborating with staff to create a safe and productive learning environment. This role focuses on proactive interventions, de-escalation, behavior coaching, and data tracking to improve student outcomes and reduce behavioral barriers to learning.

Requirements

  • Associate’s degree required; Bachelor’s degree in Education, Psychology, Social Work, or related field preferred.
  • Experience working with high school students preferred.
  • Background in behavior intervention, juvenile services, counseling support, or school discipline strongly desired.
  • Knowledge of behavior modification strategies and de-escalation techniques.
  • Ability to build rapport with adolescents while maintaining professional boundaries.
  • Strong conflict resolution and communication skills.
  • Ability to remain calm in high-stress situations.
  • Ability to stand, walk, and monitor campus for extended periods.
  • Ability to respond quickly to behavioral incidents.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience with PBIS, MTSS, or restorative practices preferred.
  • May require participation in CPI or crisis prevention training.

Responsibilities

  • Implement Behavior Intervention Plans (BIPs) and individualized behavior supports with fidelity.
  • Provide direct supervision and support to students exhibiting behavioral challenges.
  • Utilize de-escalation techniques and restorative practices to address conflicts.
  • Support students in developing coping skills, self-regulation, and problem-solving strategies.
  • Facilitate behavior reflection conferences and restorative conversations.
  • Monitor hallways, classrooms, common areas, and assigned spaces to ensure safety and compliance with school expectations.
  • Respond to behavioral incidents and provide immediate intervention.
  • Assist with crisis intervention as needed, following school protocols.
  • Work closely with teachers, counselors, administrators, and MTSS/Intervention teams.
  • Participate in student support meetings, manifestation meetings, and re-entry conferences.
  • Communicate regularly with staff regarding student progress and behavioral trends.
  • Track and document behavioral incidents, interventions, and student progress.
  • Maintain accurate logs aligned with school and compliance requirements.
  • Assist in analyzing behavior data to inform supports and interventions.
  • Reinforce Social-Emotional Learning (SEL) and character education competencies.
  • Support students during transitions, intervention blocks, and structured breaks.
  • Assist with behavior skill-building groups when assigned.
