Edmonds School District Assistant Principals work with the building administrative team to supervise, direct, and evaluate assigned staff; utilize the evaluation process to promote professional growth and staff development; provide educational leadership and develop, implement, and assess an effective learning program to continuously improve student performance. Assistant Principals create a positive learning environment sensitive to diverse socioeconomic and ethnic groups; promote shared decision making and teamwork; assist with the planning and supervision of activities during the school day, at night, and on weekends; supervise curriculum planning and professional development programs in the building; supervise student conduct and oversee building disciplinary procedures; implement school and District attendance policies; assist with the implementation of Federal, State and local educational reform efforts; participate in District-level decision-making and articulation activities. Mountlake Terrace High School is a comprehensive high school serving 1400 students in grades 9-12. The school has a strong academic program that includes rigorous core academic programming for all students, multiple honors and advanced placement course offerings, and is home to the district's Science, Technology, Engineering, and Math (STEM) program that offers a 4 year experience for students from all district high schools who wish to attend. In addition, Mountlake Terrace High School provides students with many and varied opportunities to engage in activities, clubs, and athletic competitions. Many of their athletic teams regularly qualify for district and state playoffs. The school is also home to an award-winning jazz music program and a student journalism program that is recognized nationally for its excellence in student-run publications.
