POSITION: ASD - Paraprofessional SCHEDULE: 6.83 hrs/day Monday-Friday (7:30 am -2:45 pm) LOCATION: Kenowa Hills High School RATE OF PAY: Per Board Authorization QUALIFICATIONS AND ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS & DUTIES Must meet paraprofessional requirements under federal guidelines (one of the following): Associate’s degree or higher, OR Completion of at least 60 college credit hours, OR ETS ParaPro Assessment with a passing score of 460 or higher CPI (Crisis Prevention Institute) and/or Ukeru training required; must obtain and maintain certification as a condition of employment (district-provided) Experience working with 6–12 students, particularly those with special education needs, preferred Ability to build positive, respectful relationships with students, including those with diverse learning, behavioral, and social-emotional needs Ability to use age-appropriate tone, language, and strategies when supporting students Support implementation of IEPs, behavior intervention plans, and instructional plans under the direction of the classroom teacher Assist in maintaining a structured, predictable, and supportive learning environment Support students during instructional time, transitions, recess, and lunch, including supervision across settings Assist with behavior support, including: Implementing proactive strategies Supporting students during dysregulation Utilizing approved de-escalation techniques (e.g., CPI, Ukeru) May support students with significant behavioral needs, including verbal escalation, elopement, or physical behaviors Implement goals and objectives on IEPs, which will include academics Maintain confidentiality and professionalism at all times Collaborate effectively with teachers, special education staff, and related service providers Follow direction while also demonstrating initiative and the ability to work with minimal supervision Maintain accurate documentation and complete assigned paperwork as needed Demonstrate consistent and reliable attendance and punctuality as an essential function of the position Support and align with district initiatives, including Capturing Kids’ Hearts (CKH) and PBIS practices PHYSICAL DEMANDS AND WORK ENVIRONMENT The physical demands and work environment described here are representative of those required to successfully perform the essential functions of this position.
