The High Risk OB Ultrasound Sonographer position is a per diem role specializing in perinatal Maternal Fetal Medicine and High-Risk OB/GYN Sonography. The primary responsibilities include performing Fetal Anatomy Surveys, Doppler Studies, and Biophysical Profiles under the supervision of Maternal Fetal Medicine Physicians. The sonographer will be expected to practice with a customer service approach, ensuring that all activities are conducted with the utmost care and professionalism. This role requires the sonographer to document procedures according to departmental guidelines and to set up, adjust, and operate medical equipment and instruments effectively. In this position, the sonographer will perform tests ordered by the patient's physician and will work closely with Maternal Fetal Medicine Physicians to assist in various procedures. It is essential to assume care for the physical and psychological needs of patients during examinations, ensuring their safety and comfort throughout the ultrasound procedures. The sonographer will coordinate work to maximize productivity and efficiency, modifying established procedures as necessary to ensure timely completion of tasks in accordance with departmental policies. The role also involves evaluating ultrasound images for technical quality, maintaining adequate imaging records, and ensuring all images are properly labeled. A thorough knowledge of departmental and hospital policies, including infection control procedures, is required. The sonographer must accurately perform Level II obstetrical ultrasound exams, provide ultrasound guidance for invasive procedures such as amniocentesis, and conduct First Trimester Nuchal Translucency scans. Additionally, obtaining all clinical information available prior to exams and scheduling patients for their appointments are key responsibilities. The sonographer will also be responsible for checking and maintaining supplies, ensuring the sterilization of equipment, and performing administrative tasks as requested.
