Newcomb & Boyd, a multi-discipline engineering firm in Atlanta, Georgia is looking for a High Performance Energy Modeler to support our engineering teams developing commercial building energy simulations for a wide range of project types, including zero net energy. Requirements

  • Master’s degree in Engineering, Architecture, Building Science or related field. Alternatively, we will accept a Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Architecture, Building Science or related field and 4 years of experience as an Engineer, Architect or related position.
  • Advanced modeling techniques using Grasshopper with Rhino, OpenStudio, or other comparable technique
  • Experience with visual programming and daylighting tools, such as Radiance or DAYSIM
  • Experience with AutoCAD, Revit, and SketchUp

Responsibilities

  • Support our engineering teams developing commercial building energy simulations for a wide range of project types, including zero net energy.
  • Prepare templates, documentation, and calculations for the LEED certification process.
  • Address GBCI comments during the LEED review process.
  • Conduct life-cycle cost assessments and early design phase studies of building system alternatives to advise the design teams on the preferred design approach.
  • Analyze envelope options for daylighting impact on comfort, daylight harvesting, and HVAC sizing.
  • Evaluate building information from owners, facility managers, architects, and engineers in order to determine the most energy efficient design concepts.
  • Validate building energy performance using sub-metered data to develop calibrated energy simulations.
  • Prepare energy simulation, life-cycle cost assessment, and system analysis reports.
  • Coordinate sustainability efforts working closely with our in-house disciplines, architectural clients, and building owners.
