About The Position

The High Acuity Specialty Program Supervisor oversees the programming, compliance, and growth of Vail Health Behavioral Health’s Intensive Outpatient Program (IOP) and Assertive Community Treatment (ACT) program, and Community Stabilization Program (CSP) ensuring high-quality, evidence-based care for patients with complex behavioral health needs. The Supervisor provides direct patient care services as the primary clinician in the Integrated Behavioral Health (IBH) program. This role includes managing program development, supervising staff, ensuring regulatory compliance, and collaborating across teams to enhance service delivery. The Supervisor also provides operational support to the crisis team and integrated behavioral health program, including same-day referrals, warm handoffs, and intern task supervision.

Requirements

  • Three years post-licensure in a behavioral health discipline required.
  • Demonstrated experience in program management, staff supervision, and service delivery in high-acuity behavioral health settings required.
  • Current, unrestricted licensure as a Licensed Clinical Social Worker (LCSW), Licensed Professional Counselor (LPC), Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist (LMFT), or Psychologist in the State of Colorado.
  • Current, valid Colorado driver’s license, with ability to pass Vail Health’s Department of Motor Vehicle Report, required.
  • Master's or Doctoral degree in psychology, social work, marriage and family therapy, or a related behavioral health field required.

Responsibilities

  • Oversees all aspects of the Intensive Outpatient Program, including intake processes, curriculum development, program evaluation, and staff management.
  • Ensures ACT and CSP program fidelity, including coordination of services, documentation, compliance, and delivery of appropriate patient care.
  • Identifies and implements strategies to grow both programs in alignment with community needs and organizational goals.
  • Provides direct care to patients in IOP, CSP, and ACT programs including but not limited to handling a caseload of patients, running groups, and providing clinical oversight.
  • Provides direct patient care at the IBH program at Colorado Mountain Medical including responding to all communication, warm handoffs, and working with behavioral contracts for patients with high utilization/substance use disorder (SUD)
  • Directly supervises IOP staff and lead coordination for CSP and ACT staff and provides oversight or collaboration for those delivering group programming.
  • Provides task supervision for interns within the integrated behavioral health program and IOP/ACT/CSP and IBH programs.
  • Ensures all programming meets local, state, and federal regulations, as well as internal policies and accreditation standards.
  • Monitors documentation and chart compliance to maintain program integrity and funding requirements.
  • Collects and analyzes program data to inform quality improvement initiatives.
  • Audits charts for stabilization programming to include intensive outpatient program and Colorado Client Assessment Record (CCARs) in support of requests from the Data Systems Department.
  • Provides coverage for the crisis team as needed, supporting timely and effective patient interventions.
  • Rotates in supervisory consult for overnight evaluation coverage.
  • Operates as primary contact point for doctoral intern rotation within integrated behavioral health, offering training on utilization of the electronic health record, and lead onboarding for introductions and rounding.
  • Facilitates same-day referrals and warm handoffs in the integrated behavioral health program.
  • Builds and maintains relationships with community partners, medical providers, case coordinators, and care coordinators.
  • Participates, leads, and documents multidisciplinary meetings to integrate services and address patient needs holistically.
  • Participates in or facilitates critical incident debriefs due to environmental disasters, community tragedies, or loss.
  • Leads therapeutic options restraint training for the Edwards Community Health Campus to include scheduling, facilitation and certification requirements.
  • Performs clinical assessments and screenings for the Vail Health Behavioral Health Innovation Center.
  • Maintains a caseload of acute patients as determined by clinician specialty.
