About The Position

Turning awareness into action to prevent substance use.. YSS is looking for a Hidden in Plain Sight Facilitator to bring evidence-based prevention and early intervention programs to life for youth and adults across Iowa. Under the guidance of the HIPS Coordinator and Statewide Prevention Manager, you will work closely with YSS staff, schools, community coalitions, stakeholders, and subcontractors to implement and promote programs that educate, empower, and protect. In this role, you will help adults recognize warning signs of substance use and risky behaviors, foster youth engagement, and contribute to building safer, healthier communities through meaningful prevention efforts.

Requirements

  • A high school diploma or equivalent.
  • Travel is required for this position.
  • For YSS insurance purposes, you must: be 21 years of age, have a current, valid, state-issued, driver’s license, and have a clean driving record.

Nice To Haves

  • Associate’s degree in child development, family environment, sociology, social work, or related field.
  • Experience working with youth and adults in group settings.
  • Public speaking skills and ability to engage diverse audiences effectively.
  • Background or experience in substance use prevention education.
  • Strong communication skills, including active listening.

Responsibilities

  • Support statewide substance use prevention and early intervention programs, including Hidden in Plain Sight initiatives.
  • Prep, deliver, and report on evidence-based prevention and early intervention curricula, community consultations, and coalition activities.
  • Connect youth and adults to resources, providing education and support to strengthen resilience and prevent harm.
  • Serve as a professional, positive representative of YSS in schools, communities, and coalitions.
  • Collect data, maintain records, and support reporting and outcome measurement.
  • Build and maintain strong relationships with schools, families, community partners, and local agencies.
  • Attend trainings, meetings, and required grant-related events; safely operate a vehicle while towing the mobile trailer.
