About The Position

CLOSING DATE:  December 31, 2025, or until filled. Job postings are removed from the RCUH Job Openings site once the recruitment process has ended.   Regular, Part-Time (20% FTE), RCUH Non-Civil Service position with the John A. Burns School of Medicine (JABSOM), Hawai‘i Center for AIDS (HICFA), located in Honolulu, Hawai‘i.  Continuation of employment is dependent upon program/operational needs, satisfactory work performance, availability of funds, and compliance with applicable Federal/State laws.   HOURLY RANGE:  $40 - $46.25/Hr (@20% FTE) DUTIES:  Provides analysis and interpretation support for neuropsychological testing and neuroimaging aspects of HICFA's translational research and clinical trials. Prepares neuropsychological and neuroimaging sections for manuscripts, protocols, grants, and reports. Contributes to neuro aspects of HICFA's ongoing planned research and grant submissions neuro related fields such as in substance abuse, HIV or other neurodegenerative diseases. 

Requirements

  • EDUCATION: PhD from an accredited college or university in Computer Science, Electrical Engineering or Physics.
  • EXPERIENCE: Four to six (4-6) years of practical and research experience in translational and clinical research in the field of neuroscience. Experience in the evaluation of neuropsychological testing and in the interpretation and analysis of neuropsychological test results.
  • KNOWLEDGE: Expertise in various brain MRI analysis techniques, such as regional brain volume analysis and cortical thickness assessments. Publications in HIV neurocognitive dysfunction in the era of potent antiretroviral therapy.  
  • ABILITIES & SKILLS: Ability to apply image processing methods for the analysis of magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) and spectroscopy (MRS) scans.
  • Post Offer/Employment Condition: Must be able to pass a post offer criminal background check.
  • Must be able to complete the UH Information Security Awareness Training (ISAT) within two (2) weeks from date of hire, and re-certify every twelve (12) months.
  • PHYSICAL/MEDICAL DEMANDS: Ability to lift and carry up to twenty-five (25) pounds unassisted.
  • POLICY/REGULATORY REQUIREMENT: As a condition of employment, employee will be subject to all applicable RCUH policies, procedures, and trainings and, as applicable, subject to University of Hawai‘i's and/or business entity's policies, procedures, and trainings.  Violation of RCUH's, UH's, or business entity's policies and/or procedures or applicable State or Federal laws and/or regulations may lead to disciplinary action (including, but not limited to possible termination of employment, personal fines, civil and/or criminal penalties, etc.).
