This position will provide technical and administrative support to the office staff by entering, reviewing, and managing data in the NCDOT’s Highway Construction and Materials System (HiCAMS) and Project Team Sites. Responsible for processing project specific data using complex computer programs, checking calculations for monthly and final estimates, resolving pay records and material quantity discrepancies, researching project documents, assisting with project meetings and assisting with general office support. Provide guidance to office staff for data entry regarding project records and provide technical support and training to staff regarding HiCAMS usage and requirements. Thorough knowledge of NCDOT construction project documentation standards, funding sources (state/federal), and construction terminology. Must be detail-oriented with strong organizational and communication skills. Ability to interpret engineering and financial documents. Ability to review project documentation to verify completion, accuracy, and compliance with contract requirements, funding provisions, and NCDOT/FHWA standards. Ability to prepare and process partial estimates, final estimates, and reports required for closeout. Ability to perform data entry and updates in project management and financial systems, including SAP, Hicams, Construction Team Sites, and other NCDOT platforms. Ability to maintain organized and accurate project files for auditing and records retention. Must be familiar with and utilize various software, programs, and devices such as but not limited to Microsoft (TEAMS, Windows, Word, Excel, Outlook (email and calendar), Hicams, Adobe, SAP, PowerPoint, etc. Exhibit skill in the use of printers, copiers, scanners, and fax machines.

Requirements

  • Thorough knowledge of NCDOT construction project documentation standards, funding sources (state/federal), and construction terminology.
  • Must be detail-oriented with strong organizational and communication skills.
  • Associate’s degree in an applicable area of Engineering Technology, Survey Technology or a related curriculum from an appropriately accredited institution and three (3) years of progressive technician level experience; or an equivalent combination of education and experience.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience in maintaining neat, legible and accurate records and reports, including computer/iPad data entry
  • Experience in contract management
  • Working knowledge of computer equipment (iPad, desktop), software (HiCams and SharePoint) and mathematical functions.
