About The Position

This position requires the safe operation of combustion or electrical powered industrial lift trucks (hi-lo) designed to safely lift, stack, load, unload, move and transport various materials, tools, equipment and/or products from one location to another location (also includes loading/unloading onto a trailer). Drivers in Shipping must keep area clean and safe, this includes the Yard for racks stacked at a safe height and put in designated areas. Must complete daily Hi-lo checklist.

Requirements

  • Previous Hilo driving experience preferred due to time constraints in meeting production and/or shipment requirements to customer.(There will be minimal Training on driving Hilo-must have previous experience of driving a Hilo).
  • General education requirements: H.S. Diploma (including high school math and reading proficiency).
  • Must be able to lift, twist, bend, squat, climb, stand and walk continuously in close, confined surroundings, as well as tolerate fumes and noise.
  • Must be able to work mandatory OT as required 6-7 days per week.

Responsibilities

  • Must be able to ascend or descend from the vehicle to adjust the forks, inspect the load to be moved and operate levers or other devices to complete the assigned tasks.
  • Must be able to drive in reverse when vision is blocked.
  • Responsible for inspecting the vehicle for proper operating conditions, report deficiencies and operate the vehicle in a safe manner at all times.
  • Must pass appropriate physical examination when required.
  • Must satisfactorily pass a written and operating examination.
  • Must have a valid Michigan Driver’s License.
  • Must understand and be able to read an order sheet (pick sheet).
  • Must be able to work in a fast-pace environment.
  • Must know and understand FIFO; understand 7-poimt inspection process for C-TPAT
  • Knowledge of loading weight onto trailer, including weight distribution, stack ability, organization of parts best suited for transit.
  • Knowledge of trailer alignment for wide rack loads; and verify safety chocks are in place and operation of the dock plates.
