About The Position

This individual will perform a variety of light industrial activities and assist with customers at our Household Hazardous Waste Facility (HHW) in Jordan. Required work hours 10:00 a.m. to 6:30 p.m. on Wednesdays, 10:00 a.m. to 4:30 on Thursdays and 7:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. on Saturdays.

Requirements

  • Must be at least 18 years of age.
  • Valid driver's license is required.
  • Good customer service skills
  • Multi-tasking skills and prioritization skills.
  • Ability to react well under pressure and treats others with respect.
  • Is consistently at work and on time.
  • Excellent organizational skills with the ability to be flexible and change priorities as needed, allowing for optimum effectiveness.
  • Able to manage difficult or emotional customer situations and respond promptly to service requests to meet customer commitments.
  • Self-motivated, and ability to work independently.
  • Required to be exposed to physical environment which involves dirt, odors, noise, weather extremes or similar elements part of the work day.
  • Lift and/or navigate up to 35 pounds on a routine basis in handling files and equipment and up to 50 pounds when moving various waste items at the HHW facility which is necessary for performing the essential duties of the job.

Responsibilities

  • Greets customers, directs customers and other traffic, and answers questions accurately.
  • Ensures customers follow Reuse room requirements.
  • Periodically operate forklift.
  • Occasionally stack tires.
  • Empty trash and recycling containers.
  • Open small used oil containers and empty into oil tanks.
  • Open Reuse paint cans to determine if paint is reusable.
  • Ensures that customers and employees conduct all business in a safe manner.
  • Provides general upkeep of the HHW.
  • Provide customers with information on solid waste and hazardous waste management.
  • Keeps immediate supervisor fully informed of all problems or matters requiring his/her attention.
  • Attends training and meetings as directed.
  • Performs other duties as assigned, including assisting with solid waste management, minor customer service responsibilities.
  • Approaches all encounters with customers and vendors in a friendly, service-oriented manner.
  • Working with other Environmental programs as needed.
  • Performs related duties and responsibilities as required.
