About The Position

The Herd Manager at Oklahoma State University is responsible for the management and daily care of the Equestrian horse herd. This role involves supervising Equestrian student workers, including graduate students, and coordinating maintenance activities of the facility. The position requires travel for hauling horses and entails a work schedule that includes nights and weekends, especially during competition seasons.

Requirements

  • High School diploma or GED with four years of work experience in equine management.
  • Valid Driver's License.
  • Extensive knowledge of horses and livestock.
  • Experience with running and maintaining a tractor and related equipment.
  • Experience with driving a truck and trailer and hauling livestock.
  • Ability to lift 50 lbs.

  • Bachelor's degree.

Responsibilities

  • Manage and care for the Equestrian horse herd on a daily basis.
  • Supervise and manage Equestrian student workers, including graduate students.
  • Coordinate maintenance activities of the facility, including horse stalls, fencing, and practice/event facilities.
  • Transport horses as needed, both in and out of state.
  • Perform feeding and daily care during the off-season and manage competition activities during the season.

Benefits

  • Hourly pay range of $21.15 - $28.85, contingent upon available funding.
