About The Position

The Herd Management Technician at GEA Group plays a crucial role in supporting and training customers on advanced dairy management software and techniques. This position involves analyzing herds, assisting with system startups, and providing ongoing support to ensure optimal herd performance. The technician will also engage in product presentations and stay updated on industry trends, contributing to the overall success of GEA's innovative solutions in the dairy sector.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma required; preferred: B.S. in agricultural, technical, or related field with 1+ years of experience, or 4+ years of experience without a degree.
  • Ability to travel 60% domestically.
  • Proficiency in Herd Management software and data management.
  • Practical, on-site experience in production agricultural systems.
  • Ability to lead and collaborate within a team to achieve common goals.
  • Flexibility and situational awareness to formulate quick action plans.
  • Strong training, teaching, and technical presentation skills.
  • Excellent organizational, interpersonal, and communication skills.

Responsibilities

  • Become knowledgeable in GEA FT's 'Robotic Milking Concept' and 'Good Cow Milking' techniques.
  • Support and train customers on Dairyplan, DairyNet suite CattleEye, and CowScout software.
  • Analyze pre-sale and pre-start-up herds and prepare dealers and customers for transition.
  • Champion successful milking system startups and perform follow-up support.
  • Assist the technical support team and conduct software updates as necessary.
  • Consult customers on herd management/performance and software-related issues.
  • Conduct follow-up on farm visits and consultations with dealers and farmers.
  • Monitor and assist with current test farm installations.
  • Develop and deliver product-focused presentations to dealers and customers.
  • Attend trade shows and industry meetings, actively participating in relevant industry organizations.
  • Stay informed on trending topics in dairy management that impact equipment, software, and herd management practices.
  • Communicate with management through call reports, progress reports, and dealer evaluations.
  • Cooperate and communicate with sales personnel regarding new projects and potential problems.
  • Document and report the need for new products, design changes, and software changes to existing products.
