JOB OVERVIEW • Job Title: Hematology/Oncology Physician • Job Type: Locum Tenens • Location: Providence, RI • Service Setting: Inpatient • Coverage Type: Clinical + Call • Coverage Period: March 9, 2026 – Ongoing • Clinical Shift Schedule: Wednesday and Friday, 8:00 AM – 5:00 PM • On-Call Shift Schedule: Weekday call 5:00 PM – 8:00 AM; weekend call 7:00 AM – 7:00 AM • Call Type: Beeper COVERAGE DATES • Ongoing coverage beginning March 9, 2026 • Approximately 16 scheduled clinical hours per week • Additional inpatient coverage as needed on weekdays and weekends PATIENT INFORMATION • Patient Demographics: Adults • Patient Volume/Census: Outpatient 18–22 patients per day; inpatient consult volume varies • Admissions: Yes, consult-based • Rounding: Daily inpatient rounding, approximately 1–2 hours based on consult volume • Phone Consults: Yes • Case Mix: Hematology and oncology patients FACILITY INFORMATION • EMR System: Meditech • Office Equipment Available: Standard oncology clinic equipment • Specialty Backup Available: Multidisciplinary hospital services • Support Staff Available: Nursing and clinical support staff • Reason for Coverage: Supplemental coverage PRIVILEGES & COMPLIANCE • Hospital Privileges Required: Yes • Temporary or Emergency Privileges Available: Yes • License Requirements: Rhode Island medical license and DEA required COMPENSATION & BENEFITS • Travel, Lodging, Airfare, and Car Rental: Covered REQUIRED PROCEDURES • Biopsies as needed JOB REQUIREMENTS • Licenses: Active Rhode Island medical license or ability to obtain via emergency privileges • Board: Board Certified in Hematology/Oncology • DEA: Active DEA required • Certifications: Board certification required • Experience: Hematology/Oncology clinical experience required • Other Qualifications: Verification of license and board certification required with submission DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES • Provide outpatient hematology and oncology clinic care • Perform inpatient hematology and oncology consults as needed • Conduct daily inpatient rounding based on consult volume • Perform biopsies and related procedures as required • Accurately document patient encounters using paper charts and Meditech EMR
Requirements
- Active Rhode Island medical license or ability to obtain via emergency privileges
- Board Certified in Hematology/Oncology
- Active DEA required
- Board certification required
- Hematology/Oncology clinical experience required
- Verification of license and board certification required with submission
Responsibilities
