About The Position

Job Title: Hematology/Oncology Physician Job Type: Locum Tenens Location: Cooperstown, NY Service Setting: Outpatient Coverage Type: Clinical Only Coverage Period: April 6, 2026 – Ongoing (until full -time hire) Clinical Shift Schedule: 3 days per week, full -time equivalent Start Date: April 6, 2026 End Date: Ongoing Coverage requirement of 3 days per week Patient Demographics: Adults Patient Volume/Census: Approximately 12–15 patients per day Admissions: No Phone Consults: As clinically appropriate Case Mix: Approximately 80% Oncology and 20% Hematology, including benign and malignant hematologic cases EMR System: Epic Office Equipment Available: Standard outpatient oncology clinic equipment Specialty Backup Available: Interventional Radiology support for procedures Support Staff Available: NP and nursing staff onsite Reason for Coverage: Ongoing need pending full -time hire Hospital Privileges Required: Yes Temporary Privileges Available: No Credentialing Timeline: Approximately 120 days Travel, Lodging, and Malpractice Insurance: Covered Hematology and oncology evaluations and management Bone marrow procedures preferred (most handled by Interventional Radiology) Licenses: Active New York medical license Board: Board Certified in Hematology/Oncology DEA: As required for outpatient oncology practice Certifications: Immunization records required, flu vaccine or declination, and negative TB or QuantiFERON Gold test within one year of start Experience: Outpatient hematology and oncology experience Other Qualifications: Ability to work independently in an outpatient -only setting Provide comprehensive outpatient care for hematology and oncology patients Manage both benign and malignant hematologic conditions Collaborate with NP and nursing staff to deliver coordinated patient care Utilize Epic EMR for clinical documentation Support continuity of care while the facility recruits a permanent provider

Requirements

  • Active New York medical license
  • Board Certified in Hematology/Oncology
  • DEA as required for outpatient oncology practice
  • Immunization records required, flu vaccine or declination, and negative TB or QuantiFERON Gold test within one year of start
  • Outpatient hematology and oncology experience
  • Ability to work independently in an outpatient -only setting

Nice To Haves

  • Bone marrow procedures preferred (most handled by Interventional Radiology)
