About The Position
The Hematology/Oncology position in Washington, North Carolina, offers a unique opportunity for a Board Eligible/Board Certified Fellowship trained Hematology Oncologist to join a well-established cancer program. The role is situated in a coastal community, just 20 minutes from Greenville, NC, providing a blend of serene living and access to urban amenities. The practice is focused on developing a community-based general oncology practice, emphasizing the importance of patient-centered care in a supportive environment. The work schedule is Monday through Friday from 8 AM to 5 PM, with shared regional call responsibilities. The successful candidate will be part of an established team that includes experienced nurses and nurse navigators, as well as advanced practice provider support. The accredited cancer center features a 13-bay infusion therapy unit, radiation therapy services, survivorship planning, patient support services, and a meditation garden, all designed to enhance the patient experience. Clinical responsibilities will encompass developing treatment plans for newly diagnosed hematology oncology patients, overseeing chemotherapy administration, supervising advanced practice providers during follow-up visits, and participating in tumor board meetings. The position also involves collaboration within a 9-hospital cancer care system that includes 5 Commission on Cancer (COC) accredited sites, all sharing a common medical record and a planned COC Network. This role requires close collaboration with a multidisciplinary team of specialists, including radiation oncologists, surgical oncologists, gynecologic oncologists, neurological oncologists, hematology oncology fellows, and patient navigators, ensuring comprehensive care for patients.
