About The Position

Following established policies and procedures, under the direct supervision of a pharmacist, prepares and distributes medication and performs functions essential to the operations of the pharmacy department. Oversees training of new technician staff. Functions within the guidelines of the Wisconsin Statutes and Administrative Code - Pharmacy Examining Board - Pharmacy Practice Sections. Other duties as assigned. Requirements

  • High School diploma or equivalent is required.
  • Application for Wisconsin registration as a Pharmacy Technician is required by hire date and must be obtained within 12 months of hire. Staff hired into this role prior to 3/31/23 must have applied for Wisconsin registration by 3/31/23 and have until 3/31/24 to obtain registration.
  • Certification as a Pharmacy Technician (CPhT) through passing the Pharmacy Technician Certification Boards exam (PTCE) or the National Healthcareer Associations exam (ExCPT) is required within 6 months of hire.

Nice To Haves

  • A minimum of 3 years work experience in a hospital pharmacy department is preferred.
  • For decentralized technicians - a minimum of 3 years work experience in an outpatient/community pharmacy is preferred.
  • Graduate of a Nursing Assistant or Medical Assistant program or equivalent work experience is preferred.
  • Graduate of an accredited pharmacy technician training program is preferred.
