About The Position

Bay Presbyterian Preschool Helping Teacher (3 year old class) Position Summary The Preschool Helping Teacher assists the Lead Teacher in providing a safe, nurturing, and Christ-centered learning environment for the 3-year-old class. This role supports daily classroom routines, helps facilitate learning activities, and models Christian love, patience, and kindness in all interactions with children, families, and staff.

Requirements

  • Strong communication and teamwork skills.
  • Dependable, patient, and nurturing with children.
  • Creative : Demonstrates an ‘out-of-the-box’ mindset when planning games and learning activities.
  • Associates degree or higher.
  • Meet all state childcare licensing and training requirements, including CPR, communicable disease training, child abuse prevention, and required six (6) annual professional development hours for child/family/curriculum development.
  • Computer literate with the ability to learn new programs and software.
  • Profess faith in Jesus Christ and supports the mission of the BPC Preschool.
  • Able to effectively communicate both writing and verbally in English
  • Able to bend and squat to child eye level
  • Able to sit on and stand up from the floor
  • Able to stand for long periods of time

Nice To Haves

  • Early Childhood Education or K-2 preferred.
  • Previous experience working with young children preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Assist the Lead Teacher in implementing daily classroom activities and routines.
  • Help create a warm, welcoming, and Christ-centered classroom environment which includes opportunity for prayer, Bible story-telling and other faith based activities.
  • Supervise children during play, learning centers, indoor/outdoor gross motor and snack time.
  • Support children’s social, emotional, physical, and spiritual development.
  • Model kindness, patience, and respect in all interactions.
  • Assist with classroom preparation, organization, and cleanup.
  • Help children with basic needs such as handwashing, toileting, and snack routines.
  • Encourage positive behavior and guide children through gentle redirection.
  • Follow all preschool safety, health, and licensing guidelines.
  • Assist with preschool events and activities as needed.
  • Attend scheduled staff meetings.
  • Work cooperatively and communicate well with all staff.
  • Contribute to a positive working environment.
  • Assume responsibility for leading classroom activities and maintaining daily routines in accordance with established lesson plans when the Lead Teacher is absent.
