As a Helper in the Gas Operations and Construction Department for Long Island, you will experience the personal challenge of working for a world class organization and leader in the Utilities and Energy Industry. These vacancies may occur at any of the following locations: Brentwood, Greenlawn, Patchogue, Riverhead.

Requirements

  • Three years similar or related work.
  • Should be mechanically inclined and capable of performing strenuous work.
  • High School Diploma or GED.
  • Must successfully complete the following: Pre-assessment testing, regulatory safety training, traffic control/flagger training, Gas Fundamentals training, Abnormal Operating Condition Operator qualification training, Soft-Tissue Injury Prevention training, and Helper-specific training programs.
  • Candidates must possess a valid State Drivers License

Responsibilities

  • Perform traffic control, flagging functions.
  • Perform manual-laboring work such as digging, backfilling, breaking and removing; pavement, (asphalt /concrete).
  • Helper may work with heavy pneumatic tools; Provide physical assistance for setting up and operating underground tools; work with higher-classified personnel by performing laboring functions in connection with the higher classification.
  • Perform similar or less-skilled work as assigned
