As a Helper in the Gas Operations and Construction Department for Long Island, you will experience the personal challenge of working for a world-class organization and leader in the Utilities and Energy Industry. Requirements

  • Three years similar or related work.
  • Mechanically inclined and capable of performing strenuous work.
  • High School Diploma or GED.
  • Successfully complete pre-assessment testing, regulatory safety training, traffic control/flagger training, Gas Fundamentals training, Abnormal Operating Condition Operator qualification training, Soft-Tissue Injury Prevention training, and Helper-specific training programs.
  • Possess a valid State Drivers License.

Nice To Haves

  • Plumbing experience preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Perform traffic control, flagging functions.
  • Perform manual-laboring work such as digging, backfilling, breaking and removing pavement (asphalt /concrete).
  • Work with heavy pneumatic tools.
  • Provide physical assistance for setting up and operating underground tools.
  • Work with higher-classified personnel by performing laboring functions in connection with the higher classification, including strenuous work throughout the day (squatting, walking, lifting tools and materials greater than 80lbs).
  • Perform similar or less-skilled work as assigned.
