  • Assist electricians in the construction of transmission and distribution substations by installing and commissioning equipment used for power delivery.
  • Assist in the maintenance of transmission and distribution substations by overhauling, troubleshooting, repairing, and testing power equipment such as circuit breakers and transformers.
  • Assist in the safe operation of transmission and distribution equipment used for power delivery.
  • Transport equipment and materials to and from worksites.
  • Assist in the maintenance and operations of customer facilities and distribution facilities and equipment.
  • Complete the Substation Electrician Apprentice Program.
  • A two-year Associates degree in electrical theory or completion of an electrical apprenticeship program, or 4 years of work as an electrician is required.
  • Must obtain a valid Commercial Driver’s License (CDL) within six months after hire.
  • Good mechanical aptitude is necessary.
  • Must be capable of progressing to Electrician, First Class.
  • Must be able to successfully pass background checks required for access to Offutt Air Force Base.
  • Reside within a 35-mile radius of the Substation and System Protection Office.
  • Licensed electrician.
