About The Position

The Helper Overhead position at Exelon involves performing ground work associated with the construction, repair, or maintenance of overhead lines under direct supervision in a field crew. This role is essential for ensuring the safety and efficiency of operations while supporting team members in various tasks related to utility construction.

Requirements

• High School Diploma or GED
• Possession of Commercial Drivers Instruction Permit
• Advanced certification from an Electrical Line Worker Program or relevant military experience or completion of Albat or equivalent, or 1-2 years of previous utility construction experience
• Successful completion of Construction and Skills Trades (CAST) test
• Successful completion of Company's assessment

Nice To Haves

• CDL Class A
• Tanker endorsement
• 3-5 years of previous utility construction experience
• Previous wood pole climbing experience using safety harnesses, hooks and other climbing aids

Responsibilities

• Perform work in preparation for job operations, including obtaining and carrying tools and equipment to the work area.
• Hoist tools and equipment to workers on the pole and receive tools lowered to the ground.
• Perform minor assembling and dismantling operations such as installing pole and arm hardware and earth anchors.
• Engage in manual work such as digging, removing dirt and debris, mixing cement, and backfilling.
• Carry tools, equipment, and materials to the work area in vaults, and assist in moving heavy or bulky equipment.
• Safeguard the public during hazardous operations and promote safety on the job.
• Occasionally perform watch and guard duty on mobile emergency equipment.
