Under direct supervision in a field crew, the position involves performing groundwork associated with construction, repair, or maintenance of overhead lines. This includes manual operations such as digging, backfilling, and using hand and power tools. The role requires working outdoors in various weather conditions and may involve overtime work, including responding to callouts.

  • Perform work in preparation for job operations, such as obtaining and carrying tools and equipment from the truck to the work area.
  • Hoist tools and equipment to workers on the pole and receive tools and equipment lowered to the ground.
  • Perform minor assembling and dismantling operations such as installing pole and arm hardware.
  • Perform manual work such as digging, removing dirt and debris, mixing cement, and backfilling.
  • Drive truck or truck-and-trailer, operate trailer-mounted equipment, and portable equipment.
  • Safeguard the public when hazardous operations are being performed.
  • Occasionally perform watch and guard duty on and around mobile emergency equipment.
  • High School Diploma or GED.
  • Possession of Commercial Drivers Instruction Permit.
  • Advanced certification from an Electrical Line Worker Program or relevant military experience or completion of Albat or equivalent.
  • 1-2 years of previous utility construction experience.
  • Successful completion of Construction and Skills Trades (CAST) test.
  • Successful completion of Company's assessment.
  • CDL Class A Tanker endorsement.
  • 3-5 years of previous utility construction experience.
  • Previous wood pole climbing experience using safety harnesses, hooks and other climbing aids.
  • Hourly rates will be paid in accordance with the candidate's skills, qualifications, experience or collective bargaining agreement: $30.43/Hr.
