About The Position

The Help Desk Student Employment position is designed for a student assistant to provide technical assistance to students, faculty, and staff during various hours. The role requires a commitment of up to 25 hours per week during the Spring and Fall semesters, and up to 35 hours during the Summer semester. The working schedule may vary, including weekdays, weekends, and/or evening hours as needed.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma.
  • Detailed familiarity with basic personal computing software and hardware.
  • Courtesy and customer service skills.
  • Ability to communicate effectively, both verbally and in written format.
  • Experience working with students and educators.
  • Ability to learn, apply, and retain knowledge quickly on a broad range of hardware and software.

Nice To Haves

  • Knowledge of setups and installations of software and email services on smartphones and tablets.
  • Experience with specialized software like the Adobe suite.
  • Experience troubleshooting computer problems.
  • Experience with troubleshooting network connectivity issues.
  • Customer service experience.

Responsibilities

  • Provide technical assistance to students, faculty, and staff.
  • Perform hardware and software maintenance and preventive maintenance.
  • Assist with setups and installations of software and email services on smartphones and tablets.
  • Track technology hardware inventory.
  • Change toner cartridges and set up laser printers.
  • Document interactions with faculty, staff, and students through various communication methods.
