Requirements

1-3 years loan underwriting.
Must be resourceful in utilizing tools and information that is available.
Attention to detail and accuracy is a must.
Ability to accurately determine income for wage earners, self-employed borrowers, and experience with corporate returns.
Experience reviewing appraisals.
Strong organizational skills as well as excellent verbal (including phone etiquette) and phone and written communication.
Positive “can do” attitude with a strong focus on internal and external customer service.
Proactive approach when dealing with challenging situations/loans and resolution focused.
Ability to work independently in a fast-paced environment & handle multiple personality types in a calm and professional manner.
Proficient in MS Office including Excel and Word
Advanced Computer Skills
High School Diploma or equivalent

Responsibilities

HELOC Underwriter will maintain a pipeline of Bank HELOC loan transactions with the expectation of completing 3+ new decisions per day while maintaining 48-hour turn time on resubmissions for final approval.
Update underwriting approvals, validate approval data, clear alerts in fraud detection tool, and complete reviews in accordance with loan policy to mitigate risk for the bank.
Communicate loan decisions and approval conditions to Loan Processors, Consumer Lenders, Closers, and Management.
Request loan policy and guideline exception requests.
