About The Position

As a Helicopter Pilot for Air Methods, you will be responsible for ensuring the safe and legal operation of aircraft to transport medical crews and patients to receiving hospitals. This role requires compliance with Federal Aviation Regulations and a thorough understanding of Air Methods policies and procedures. The position offers a unique opportunity to work in the air medical industry, providing essential services to communities while maintaining a work-life balance.

Requirements

  • Associate's degree (A.A.) or equivalent from a two-year college or technical school and two to five years' related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Bachelor's degree preferred.
  • 2500 total flight hours with a minimum of 2000 flight hours in category.
  • 1000 hours of flight experience in Instrument Flight Rules (IFR) conditions.
  • Maintains a weight not to exceed 250 pounds and must be less than seventy (70) years old.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience in air medical transport operations.
  • Strong interpersonal skills to maintain positive relationships with colleagues and EMS representatives.

Responsibilities

  • Operates Air Methods aircraft in a safe and legal manner.
  • Completes pre-flight checks to verify the aircraft is in an airworthy condition by signing off on the Daily Flight Log.
  • Maintains final authority regarding the operations of the aircraft and the safety of passengers, cargo, and equipment.
  • Familiarizes with all aircraft and medical systems of backup aircraft utilized in the operational area.
  • Ensures that the medical flight team is familiar and comfortable with the medical interior and systems.
  • Completes required documentation accurately and timely.
  • Conducts detailed flight planning with little notice to exacting standards.
  • Participates regularly in Air Methods meetings, activities, projects, committees, and community outreach.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.
