About The Position

The Behavior Technician position at Helen Keller Middle School is a non-certified role under the BASES/BRIDGES program. The technician will provide behavioral and academic support to assigned students throughout the school day, implementing IEP goals as directed by the Special Education Teacher and behavior analyst. The role requires attending related service sessions and working collaboratively with other specialists to reinforce student goals. The technician will also maintain accurate data on designated programs and participate in ongoing training. The position is scheduled for Monday to Friday, totaling 7.25 hours per day for 185 days, starting with the 2025-2026 school year, with an official start date of August 25, 2025.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's Degree preferred; minimum of two years college experience or evidence of having passed the ParaPro Exam required
  • Demonstrate knowledge of special education practices (autism)
  • Possess excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Must be flexible, creative, and demonstrate strong organizational skills
  • Must be highly motivated and self-directed

Responsibilities

  • Accompany assigned student throughout the school day to provide behavioral and academic support
  • Implement IEP goals as directed by the Special Education Teacher and behavior analyst
  • Attend related service sessions with student (ex. speech, OT, PT) and reinforce work in these goal areas
  • Work with other specialists to implement additional specified goals and objectives
  • Implement programs developed by teacher, behavior analyst and/or consultant with fidelity
  • Maintain accurate data and graphing on all designated programs
  • Plan and implement all aspects of systematic instructional sequences within self-contained classroom, inclusion environments, and reverse mainstream environments
  • Meet regularly with behavior analyst, special education teacher, support team
  • Attend staff meetings
  • Provide reports of student progress when deemed necessary by teacher and/or team
  • Participate in ongoing training
