About The Position

The Nevada Automotive Test Center (NATC) is currently seeking talented candidates for a Heavy Equipment Mechanic role at our Silver Springs, NV location. At NATC, our Mechanics work directly with a team intent on designing, manufacturing, and testing innovative automotive mobility solutions. Founded in 1957, NATC is a privately owned, independent test, evaluation, design, and engineering facility offering development and testing to customers worldwide. We have substantial international experience, which allows us to evaluate products intended for global markets knowledgeably and objectively. NATC is a leading innovator in translating real-world conditions into validated virtual proving ground simulation and virtual prototyping. In this position, you will work under the direct supervision of the Shop Supervisor, where you will be responsible for repairing and maintaining machinery and mechanical equipment, automotive equipment, and vehicles used in the maintenance and construction of roads and courses. This includes trucks, buses, and other vehicles. NATC Mechanics will work on developmental and prototype ground vehicles, as well as NATC owned fleet vehicles. You will perform skilled maintenance and repair duties involving repairs to gasoline and diesel powered heavy and light construction equipment, including but not limited to excavators, backhoes, skid steers, loaders, graders, water trucks, dump trucks, Challengers, cranes, vacuum trucks, and bulldozers. Your role will also involve inspecting, diagnosing, and locating mechanical issues on a variety of gasoline and diesel powered units, dismantling assemblies to gain access to hydraulic systems, front and rear drive components, electrical systems, drive train components, chassis components, and ignition systems using proper tools and test equipment. You will work closely with customers and other vehicle maintenance technicians to ensure quality work is done in all aspects while maintaining test and company vehicles and equipment. Additionally, you will be responsible for maintaining records of maintenance actions performed on support vehicles and company fleet units, responding to field repairs and emergencies when necessary, and documenting deficiencies and anomalies to assist in root cause analysis.
