About The Position

The Heavy Truck / Diesel Mechanic position requires a strong mechanical aptitude. Our team of technicians service; including repair, install and maintain a variety of pieces of heavy equipment including hydrovacs, vac trucks, street sweeper, refuse and recycling equipment.

Requirements

Strong mechanical aptitude
Demonstrated ability to work in a safe manner
Collaborative team player and willing to assist others when required
Attention to detail and commitment to customer satisfaction
Independent problem solver and decision maker
Ability to plan and execute aspects of work independently
Education from an accredited technical school in diesel engine/hydraulics/heavy equipment repair preferred but not required
Valid CDL driver’s license (or ability to obtain a CDL) and a clean driver’s abstract
Must be able to pass a pre-employment background check
3+ years’ experience working in a mechanic / technician role
Experienced with hydraulic and/or electrical work
Work in compliance with the appropriate safety legislation/regulations/safety policies
Report any known workplace hazard or safety violations
Cooperate with their workplace’s Safety Committee or health and safety representative
Use any safety equipment, protective devices or clothing required
Not remove or make ineffective any protective device required by the Company or by the regulations.

Nice To Haves

Education from an accredited technical school in diesel engine/hydraulics/heavy equipment repair preferred but not required

Responsibilities

Inspect and troubleshoot equipment failures and perform hydraulic, electrical and mechanical repairs on various types of equipment
Perform diagnostics to determine repairs required
Conduct routine preventative maintenance
Communicate effectively with the Parts & Service teams on job progress and status changes
Update work order system
Maintain organized and safe work area, shop tools and service vans
