CONTINGENT UPON CONTRACT AWARD Heavy Truck Driver Lead Fort Rucker, Alabama DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: Drives heavy trucks (straight truck, over 4 tons, usually 10 wheels) to transport materials, merchandise, equipment, or workers between various ranges, warehouses, freight depots and other installation facilities. May load or unload trucks with or without helpers, perform minor mechanical repairs, and ensure trucks are maintained in good working order. Supervises and establishes work priorities for 6-8 grounds maintenance personnel and actively conducts sustainment training for all equipment operators. Develops and drafts daily work control plans for the grounds section and participates in weekly staff meetings, briefing decision-makers on weekly priorities of work. Coordinates and expedites the flow of materials, parts, and assemblies within or between section workers in accordance with work schedules or supervisors' priorities. Reviews production schedules and confers with supervisors to determine material requirements or overdue items, locates materials, requisitions materials, and establishes delivery sequences to departments according to job order priorities and anticipated availability. Arranges for local transfer of materials to meet work schedules, coordinates with supervisors for repair and assembly of materials, and ensures transportation to various departments. Examine materials delivered to production departments to verify specifications. Monitors and controls the movement of materials, computes the amount of material needed for specific job orders, applies knowledge of product and ground movement processes, and compiles reports on the quantity and type of materials on hand. May move or transport materials using industrial trucks or heavy equipment, compile perpetual production records to locate materials in process, and maintain oversight of employee records.
