Requirements

  • Four or more years of experience as a Heavy Transportation Driver.
  • Valid California Class A Driver's License with a clean abstract and the ability to drive interstate.

Nice To Haves

  • Five years of flatbed and/or trailer experience.
  • Class A license that includes endorsements: Hazmats, Tankers, Doubles and Triples.
  • Knowledge of operation and maintenance of heavy truck and trailer equipment; company policies and practices and accident prevention rules for vehicle operation; traffic laws, permits and routes for trucking activities; trucker rigging methods and hand signals for material excavation and earth moving construction equipment for loading or unloading or work as qualified as Construction Equipment Operator IV; First Aid Procedures; and Safe Work Practices.

Responsibilities

  • Drives any size or type of heavy truck and tows any size or type of trailer with an unlimited combination of axles and/or maximum weight and/or height, width or length allowed by state or local regulations, to transport material, tools, equipment, and supplies.
  • Loads and unloads all types of freight and construction equipment from truck and/or trailer.
  • Operates or directs others in operation of truck and trailer auxiliaries, and all types of material handling equipment to load and unload freight.
  • Performs duties of Construction Equipment Operator IV, as qualified, or helper when not hauling freight.
  • Loads truck and trailer to assure proper distribution of load. Secures loads to prevent shifting and covers load as required to prevent damage.
  • Performs vehicle inspections and makes minor or emergency repairs and adjustments.
  • Attaches coupling, safety chains, lights, brake connections and warning flags.
  • Signs paper for receipt and delivery of freight.
  • Prepares vehicle operator reports.
