Our Troy, OH site location has an immediate need for a Heavy Inspector to inspect products, materials, and processes to meet quality and design standards. Identify and document acceptable and substandard conditions to prevent defects. Use measuring tools and testing equipment to perform inspections and follow routine procedures for inspections and tests across manufacturing and testing areas.

Requirements

  • Typically requires HS diploma (or equivalent, e.g. G.E.D. in the US) or vocational/technical education in related discipline.
  • U.S. citizenship is required, as only U.S. citizens are authorized to access information under this program/contract.
  • Minimum of 1 year CNC machining experience or minimum of 2 years quality manufacturing experience.
  • Experience working with technical documents (including any of the following: routings, blueprints, Engineering process specifications, written work instructions).

Nice To Haves

  • Experience in Inspection Classification (Gage, Heavy, Light, Returned Goods) or satisfactorily complete pretest to demonstrate equivalent and appropriate experience.

Responsibilities

  • Receive job assignment of manufacturing area, inspection area, or for inspection of specific items or processes.
  • Familiarize self with product or processes, requesting assistance as needed.
  • Obtain applicable drawings, specifications, quality standards and inspection instructions.
  • Obtain necessary inspection equipment and assure that the equipment is and remains in reliable condition and is calibrated if applicable.
  • Inspect production machine and process setups when applicable using first production pieces, setup pieces, shift samples, etc. according to checklists, blueprints, routings and standards.
  • Inspect manufactured products, purchased samples, materials and parts, control samples, processes, or test data for conformity to blueprints, specifications, and standards.
  • Report inspection results and substandard conditions on appropriate forms or computer.
  • Identify product items as accepted or dispositioned. Inform supervision of abnormal situations. Arrange items transport if necessary.
  • Return inspection equipment and materials to storage after completing tasks.
  • Maintain a clean, orderly laboratory, testing equipment, and work area.
  • Attend quality-related training and department meetings to maintain or update skills.
  • Clean and maintain work areas, machines, and auxiliary equipment to ensure a clean, safe, and orderly environment.
  • Move material between workstations and cells/areas as dictated by the manufacturing cell/area configuration and the nature of the part.
  • Oil machines as needed.
  • Retrieve items from the tool crib and complete necessary forms/transactions.
  • Perform mathematical calculations requiring addition, subtraction, multiplication or division and pass a pre-employment qualification test.
  • Perform substantial reaching and moving while standing, twisting; stooping; and be responsive to sounds associated to the work environment.
  • Lift to 25 lbs. unassisted, anything over 25 lbs. would be assisted.
  • Wear personal protective equipment as required.
  • Adhere to all EH&S roles and responsibilities as stated in manufacturing work instructions and EHS policies and procedures.
