About The Position

This position is responsible for the management of all Heavy Haul activity at the Anchorage Terminal.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or GED equivalent
  • 5-7 years of heavy haul driving required
  • 5 years previous supervisory or managerial experience
  • Working knowledge of finance, credit, pricing, budgeting, and cost control and collection principles and practices
  • Working knowledge of MS Office Suite applications including Word, Outlook and Excel
  • Working knowledge of multi-modal Heavy Haul routing including line service, barge and rail
  • Working knowledge of computers and software, TruckMate knowledge preferred
  • Must understand geographical markets
  • Knowledgeable of all state and federal DOT regulations
  • Proficient in the use of MS Office Suite including Excel, Word, Outlook and PowerPoint
  • Excellent verbal, written and listening communication skills
  • Strong verbal, written and listening communication skills
  • Customer service focused
  • Ability to multi-task and work under pressure while meeting strict deadlines
  • Must be self-motivated, a problem solver and goal oriented
  • Strong organizational development skills

Nice To Haves

  • Some college, AA, or undergraduate degree preferred
  • Class A CDL with hazmat and tanker endorsement preferred

Responsibilities

  • Operate safely and in compliance with all established HSSE policies and procedures
  • Provides customer service to all heavy haul customers
  • Quotes heavy haul work for potential customers, assists with quoting HH projects in Alaska and Lower 48
  • Schedules and plans work for HH drivers; review routing and all relevant details with drivers before dispatching
  • Ensures all necessary permits, road/bridge fees, and documents are prepared for drivers
  • Maximizes the efficiency of loads, equipment, and drivers when route planning
  • Creates BOLs in TruckMate for HH freight moves
  • Rates bills and date reviews before sending to billing
  • Provides advice, guidance, and direction to staff for their professional development
  • Communicates and coordinates with Operations
  • Oversees and manages the professional development and productivity of all staff members to ensure proper goals, training, professional development and project requirements are met
  • Actively involved with recruiting, retention, mentoring, and training of Heavy Haul drivers
  • Take delivery of new equipment, inspect, and approve for operational readiness
  • Perform other duties as assigned
