About The Position

We're building tomorrow's fleet today. For nearly 85 years, we've designed, built and maintained amphibious ships, destroyers, and cutters for the U.S. Navy and the U.S. Coast Guard. The largest supplier of U.S. Navy surface combatants, we're simultaneously building four classes of ships and have pioneered the development and production of technologically advanced, highly capable ships for the surface Navy fleet for decades. The job involves overhauling and repairing gantries and portal cranes and other types of heavy duty mobile equipment, such as bulldozers, mobile cranes, locomotives, tractors, graders, powershovels and diesel-powered trucks, buses and materials-handling equipment. Repairs diesel or gasoline engines as necessary; and inspects and PMs, and replaces any necessary components such as clutches, transmission systems, differentials, air compressors, pumps, filter units, superchargers, timers, generators, governors, reduction gears, hydraulic couplings, breaking systems, steering system, cooling systems, electrical systems, gear boxes and similar units.

Requirements

  • 3 or more years experience diagnosing and repairing all types of heavy equipment - diesel and gas powered.

Responsibilities

  • Overhaul and repair gantries and portal cranes.
  • Repair heavy duty mobile equipment including bulldozers, mobile cranes, locomotives, tractors, graders, powershovels, and diesel-powered trucks.
  • Diagnose and repair diesel or gasoline engines.
  • Inspect and perform preventive maintenance on equipment.
  • Replace necessary components such as clutches, transmission systems, and electrical systems.
