About The Position

As a Heavy Equipment Operator, you will play a vital role in supporting the day-to-day maintenance functions that keep the park running smoothly. Job Summary: The Engineering/Maintenance team is responsible for opening properties prior to guest arrival, maintenance and repair during the season and closing properties at the end of the season. Heavy Equipment Operators (requires Class A CDL) are responsible for operating heavy equipment, snow removal, operating electric and hand tools. Why Yellowstone National Park? Requirements

  • Must be at least 21 years of age
  • Must possess a Class A CDL with a valid driver's license and a clean driving record
  • Must possess or obtain a current DOT physical qualification
  • General knowledge of the park and the locations of concession buildings
  • Ability to drive in changing weather conditions on narrow mountain roads
  • Possess physical stamina to withstand heavy labor related to work in an outside environment.
  • Must be capable of lifting and moving objects weighing up to 70 pounds.
  • Must be able to walk long distances over uneven terrain and climb stairs and ladders in all types of weather conditions.
  • Must be able to stand, bend, kneel, and crawl for extended periods of time as required.

Responsibilities

  • Proficiently operating loaders, skid steer loaders, backhoe loaders, dump trucks, snow blowers, and other equipment common to the trade, including shovels, rakes, tampers, etc.
  • Proficiently operating chainsaws, hand saws, wedges, block & tackle, and other tree falling equipment
  • Responsible for placing concrete and asphalt patching park-wide
  • Responsible for replacement and staining of bumper logs park-wide
  • Responsible for all domestic utility (water, sewer, electrical) repairs park-wide
  • Responsible for correct placement of snow poles for future snow removal
  • Responsible for working safe and complying with all current related codes and regulations
